Important and meaningful
The Ancient Greeks were particularly fond of using myths as a way of inspiring their people to behave in a particular way. Many of the stories we are familiar with from that time in history cannot possibly be true events - the story of the Minotaur is a gripping, exciting tale and the place where the story is set, Knossos, does exist but, in reality, it is impossible that a creature which was half man, half bull ever existed. The creators of the myth must have had a very good reason for wanting people to believe that the Minotaur was a real creature which devoured seven boys and seven girls every year. You might like to explore their reasons for yourself.
