The Never Ending Forest

A myth submitted to the site by Lucy

Wiltshire, Britain

Legend has it that there was a never ending forest, it kept lots of secrets. Unfortunately nearby there lived a big bad giant, he was cold hearted. The giant wanted to cut down all the trees; this would make the people who lived in a village in the forest homeless so they called the Quest Knight to rescue them. He was powerful, gentle and bold.

He heard the villagers call and got on his chestnut steed and rode across the land. Once he got to the water he got on a nearby boat, it took along time. When he got to land he got back on his horse and began riding. It took seven days and seven nights. When he finally got there he saw the giant who had cut down nearly all the trees. The quest knight did not like that so he declared a battle for the next day.

The giant picked up the quest knight and took him up to the clouds and suddenly dropped him, so he climbed up the giants dusty old clothes and chopped off the giants head. Unfortunately the Quest Knight was too badly injured in the battle to live, so he died.

The villagers made a flag to honour him. The white is for the clouds over the heaven that the quest knight went up to. The red on the flag is for the blood that came out of the giant and the blue is for the sea that the quest knight travelled over.
