The Spirit of Mark

A myth submitted to the site by Jaden L

Wazuki River, Minnesota

Long ago in the year 1950 lived an ordinary guy named Mark. Mark was 20 years old and had a pet dog named Spot. He had a good relationship with his dog. Mark thought of his dog as one of his kids since he never had kids of his own. Everyday Mark and his dog would go on a walk before work. Mark worked at The B.F.R. in Minnesota. The Big Foot Reservation. It was on the shore of the Waszuki River.

Mark walked his dog everyday along that Shore. There were lots of trees and ferns in that area that brought in a lot of different bird types. Mark and Spot liked to hunt for red birds. Those birds sit on and along the lake. They used to walk nice and slow and Spot would spot a bird and bark. That is how he got his name “Spot”.

One ordinary day, Mark was walking his dog. Spot spotted a red bird and walked away from Mark a little bit. Mark suddenly fell into a sand trap. A bunch of sticks covered over a deep hole. Mark had built the trap a long time ago as a child, when he was trying to catch a Big Foot. Mark suddenly died that day. Spot went to the hole and started to dig so that Mark could get out. Sadly, Mark was already dead. Spot growled and hung his head down. He was sad and scared. He ran away.

A week later Mark became a spirit, he searched for his dog all over that river. He never found him. He is still looking for him today. Legend has it today, in year 2012, when you walk along that lake shore with your dog. You might encounter The Spirit of Mark coming up to your dog.
