Kysari and Luriya's Feud

A myth submitted to the site by Kierra5810x3

Rorah, the island of the gods and goddesses.

A long time ago an island called Rorah existed. Rorah was a huge tropical island surrounded by a deep calm ocean. This is where the gods and goddesses lived. The gods and goddesses controlled the planet Earth from this island. A few gods and goddesses had palaces elsewhere too, like underneath the sea or in the sky, but they mainly lived on Rorah until they were needed in their kingdom. The island was like a headquarters for the gods and goddesses.

The weather in the world at that time was only warm or cool, no seasons existed yet. No electricity or phones existed yet either. This was a time when the gods were new at creating things. Their island, Rorah, was sectioned into many different parts. Each god and goddess had their own part of the island and the areas were as different as can be.

The goddess of nature, Maorise, had many flowers and animals on her territory. Eldiso, the god of the Passing World, had fiery pits of lava and skeletal black trees all over his land. The god of water, Paelod, had a piece of the island that was covered in shells, sand, and lakes. These are just a few of the places you could of found on Rorah, there were still many more gods and goddesses.

In the middle of the island there was a mountain with a big elegant building on top. This was the meeting house of the gods and goddesses. It was called Olea. They would come there to discuss news, ideas, and problems.

One day they were there discussing the pregnancies of two goddesses. One of the pregnant goddesses was Luriya. She was the goddess of all animals. She ruled closely with Maorise, the goddess of nature. She was tall with red hair and big brown eyes. She was a really caring goddess but was known for having a haughty side. This was going to be Luriya’s first child and it belonged to Feromus, the god of air. The second pregnant goddess was Kysari, the goddess of rain. She had a strong body, golden blonde hair, light blue eyes, and a pensive expression most of the time. She was married to Thesoro, the god of coldness. Thesoro worked with Feromus, the god of air, to create Wind. The gods and goddesses were having a meeting about the two incoming children. They were trying to figure out what powers the newborns would have.

The god of the sky, Aorels, said that since Luriya was the goddess of animals and Feromus was the god of air they will make an animal that can live in the air. The other gods were not sure if this was possible. They did not have any animals that could get up into the sky yet. They were the only being that could fly. Paelod, the god of water, suggested that since Kysari was the goddess of rain and Thesoro was the god of cold then maybe they will create a child that can make a wet coldness. The gods and goddesses had not known any other cold besides the wind from Thesoro and Feromus. They could not imagine anything colder than that. The meeting was ended in disagreement over the children and they all decided to just wait and see what happens.

A month later Luriya and Kysari both had their children on the same day. Luriya held a tiny black creature in her hands. The baby had a sharp orange nose and weird shaped wings. He made an awful screeching and squawking sound. She thought he was ugly at first but she was so excited that he would be able to fly. She named him Dirlan and decided his new type of species would be called Bird.

Kysari produced a human child. He was chubby and pale with blonde hair and blue eyes like her. However, his hair was a bright platinum blonde and his eyes were a dark, sapphire blue. His body was cool to the touch and she wondered what his powers were. She named him Jiarylo.

A week later there was a meeting at Olea. Kysari and Luriya were told to bring their new children. They both walked in with a big smile, eager to show off their babies. First the gods and goddesses examined Dirlan the Bird. They watched in amazement as he flew around the room.
“He is definitely one of a kind.” Pemathi, the goddess of fire, said.
“Yes, he is the first of many new flying creatures. He will change our world.” said Aorels, the sky god. The gods and goddesses were all able to fly themselves but Dirlan the Bird was the first creature to be able to. Dirlan heard the gods and goddesses talking about him and he did a couple loops in the air to show off.

After that the gods took a look at Jiarylo. Kysari told them that she did not know what he could do yet. They were taking turns feeling his cold skin when he started waving his little fists high up in the air. All of a sudden the light coming through the windows got brighter. They went to the window and saw a thick white layer of something on the ground and more white stuff falling from the sky. They went outside and were surprised by the icy chills they got. The white stuff was too cold to touch for long. Jiarylo slapped his knees and the white stuff fell harder from the sky. Then he clapped his hands and the ground become slippery with a hard clear layer. The gods and goddesses hurried back inside.
“What an extraordinary gift!” Maorise, the goddess of nature, said. They weren’t sure what to make of this new coldness. The gods and goddesses were not sure if Jiarylo’s powers were good or bad yet so they told Kysari to let Jiarylo bring about this cold only for a few months at a time. Since Aorels was the god of the sky he was chosen to name the new substances that Jiarylo had created. He named the cold, soft, white stuff Snow and the slippery, hard layer would be called Ice. The months that Jiarylo could use his powers were called Winter.

They sent Laress, the god of the human people, to tell the world that there is a new flying animal and a new kind of cold. The gods and goddesses ended the meeting. Luriya caught Dirlan in her arms and went over to Kysari who was holding Jiarylo.
“Would you like to let the boys play for a while?” Luriya asked.
“Sure, they should get to know each other since they’re both very special.” Replied Kysari. They sat down on their thrones at Olea and talked while Jiarylo played with Dirlan. Dirlan flew above Jiarylo’s head making him squeal in delight. Jiarylo made little snowflakes fall down on Dirlan’s feathers. Everything was going good until Jiarylo made a big pile of snow appear and it fell right on top of Dirlan. Luriya jumped up and dug Dirlan out. She looked at Kysari with a livid expression and said “I don’t think Jiarylo’s powers are all that great! He nearly killed Dirlan! Snow and Ice are too cold, nobody wants it around anyways!”
Kysari became angry and yelled back at Luriya. “Well, at least he actually has powers. All Dirlan does is fly around and make that awful screeching sound! And he isn’t as handsome as my son!” Luriya was outraged now and she stormed out of Olea. “Keep your son away from mine! I don’t want Dirlan around those useless, dangerous powers!” After that Luriya and Kysari never spoke again.

Now when Jiarylo uses his powers in the Winter Luriya tells her Dirlan and all of the other Birds to fly to a warm place far away from Jiarylo. That is why birds fly south for the winter. Some of them do not though because they do not want to carry on their mother’s feud with Kysari. They stay for the winter and enjoy the snow.
