How the Ants Got Small

A myth submitted to the site by Noam

USA

Have you ever thought: “Oh, poor ants, they’re so small. Thousands of them die each second by our big feet”. Well, you should not feel bad because they deserved it.
A long time ago, ants were as big as the dinosaurs. Until, one day there was an ant named Sammy. Sammy was a very quite ant, but he was extremely sneaky. Sammy decided to pull a little fun prank on the spiders. Sammy and his best friends were going to throw a big party. Every animal would meet up together and party at 7:00 Sunday night at a place called “The On Time”. This is the place where the best parties were held. There was just one rule. The rule is that anybody who comes late is not allowed to come in. Sammy’s plan was to tell the spiders that the party was at 7:30, and then they would be stuck outside in the freezing cold.

The other animals had no idea about this plan. That is why it was successful. All the spiders arrived all dressed up and excited at exactly 7:30. Sure enough, they were not let in. They were super disappointed. That was the talk of the tow for the next couple days.

Three days later all the animals except the ants huddled up and planned to get revenge on the ants. They were going to have another party at 7:00 the next night. No lies were told, and all the animals including the spiders and the ants showed up promptly at 7:00. “Special” drinks would be served to the ants. These drinks would contain a special potion that would shrink anyone or anything that drinks it. It is called the shrink drink. Sammy, along with all the other ants fell straight into the trap. One by one you started to see each ant get shorter and shorter. From then on all the ants were born the same size as their parents, thanks to Sammy and his friends.
