Creation of People

A myth submitted to the site by Kel Chuang

Caucasus, Russia

There was once a bright and shiny meteorite flying across the sky over modern day Siberia. Later on, it crashed on the earth near the Caucasus Mountain. Soon, a person - our creator - came out from the ashes with excitement. He explored the land and named the things he saw. The time period with brightness was named “Day” and the period without brightness but a little light ray was called “night”.

To pass the boring days of being alone on the mountain, he realized that he had to do something to kill time. In a dark night, he had drawn some graphs on the ground by the stick before he went to sleep. He dreamed of a holy person and was told that all he had drawn would become real after he woke up next morning. So the next morning when he woke up he saw that the person he had drawn came to life. The stuff he had drawn were a female version of himself and some animals that he had a vision about before. He decided to call the female version of himself Woman and then name the different animals with the Woman.

So they walked around and went on naming the different animals that he had drawn he had drawn so much that night that it took some time to name them all. They included dogs, cats, beavers, jaguars, lions etc. Then he noticed something wrong. There was only one of each! So he made a female version of each of these animals.

When they all got their different mates, they gradually understood how to breed and continue their lineage. Consequently, the world has become as flourishing and diverse as we know it today.
