The King and the 'Poor Old Man'

A myth submitted to the site by Lucy Joy

There once lived a rich merchant who was mean and nasty to the poor, he had lots of money which he only spent on himself. He went into the village one day and made the most terrible speech ever he said “I, the only rich person in this small small village has had enough of being ignored and disrespected so I declare myself king! And anyone who dare step out of line will suffer!”

Years past and the king became more powerful than ever and more mean. One day a poor man knocked on the door of his castle and asked to be let in.
“No you poor old man stay outside and die of cold for all I care I will not have you in my lovely castle away with you”
“You will wish you never did that for I am no poor old man but a wizard in disguise.”

The old man turned into a veracious beast and gobbled up the horrible king. The old wizard became king of the country and was much loved by his people.
