Long ago, Cornwall had many beautiful beaches and this story uses one of them, which is in Newquay and is called Fistral Beach.
Near the beach, was a little cottage where two young girls lived. The girls were called Angel and Scarlet, Angel was seven and Scarlet was eight. They ran down onto the beach when all was silent and no one was about. Angel and Scarlet took little lanterns with them.
While swimming in the stream, Scarlet spotted a small opening in the thick concrete wall. They decided to go through it. Though soaking wet, they cautiously continued to explore the passage in their old shabby clothes. Suddenly a voice asked them to step into the light, this they did. Suddenly there was a flash of light, a trapdoor opened and both girls dropped through.
No one knows what happend to them, but rumors say that the girls walk the horizon on 1st of January which is supposedly the day the trapdoor opened on them.
