“Forget about it.” My mum told me. Huh. Fat Chance.
It all started on Tuesday...

I was getting dressed for school when I found it. Lying on my bedside table was a letter. Addressed to me. I picked it up then put it down again and looked at my watch. It was 10 to 8. No time to read it now. School starts at 10 past 8 and it takes 10 minutes to walk to school and I still had to make my packed lunch and eat my breakfast. I decided to show my mum and dad it later after I had read it. Well it did say ‘Katherine Walker’ on the front and Katherine Walker is my name.

When I was going out the door I felt I couldn’t go, I had to find out what that letter meant but I knew to do the right thing and left to go to school. At school I was told off at least once every lesson because I couldn’t take my mind off the letter and what it might have written on it. When the bell rang I didn’t wait for my mum to arrive in the car and ran all the way home getting back to the lighthouse in 5 minutes.

I don’t know what made me do it. I packed up a small bag full of clothes and a couple of blankets, a pillow, my favourite teddies, a pile of books and a tent. I ran and ran away from home to the woods behind the beach carrying the letter in my right hand. I hid in the centre of the forest and set up camp right there. However, as as I was about to go into my tent I thought why am I here? Why am I doing this, this isn't like me. I'm normally a kind and caring girl who would never even dream of running away from home, espically just because of a stupid letter! I decided what to do.

I stood up straight and tore the letter in half, and again, and again just to show I was free again. I went to school the next day with my head hanging because I had had the most awful dream. I tore up the letter and it turned out it would have been the most important letter of my life. The letter was a contract from a book shop. I would write stories, publish and print them, then give them to only that shop in return for 60% of the money raised.

So, as I was saying, I went to school my head hanging. My best friend, Maria, came running up to me asking if I was going to her Party on Saturday. Today is Thursday.
"What party?" I asked.
"You know, I gave you the invatation when I came over on Monday." She responded. Uh oh. Well to cut a long story short, my mum fortunately knew all about the party and so here I am on Saturday, dressed in my best dress, wearing make up, my favourite necklace and my high heeled shoes. Mum just called, gotta go. Here is what we both just told each other. " I feel really bad about ripping up the letter now." I told my mum.
" Forget about it."my mum told me. Huh Fat chance.

Like could forget about running away and ripping up a party invatation from my best friend because I thought it was some kind of letter left by say, a ghost? Well gotta go to the party now. I love writing stories, do you? This is the mystery of the strange letter. And now I've solved it. The letter was an invite to a party. Mystery closed. Party time now.
The End
