Long,Long time ago, there was an animal that looked like a cat only much, much bigger. He was an unusual orange in colour. He got into a fight with his friends and ran away to the jungle. There he was mistaken for a cat.

There everyone thought he was an over grown cat. Now, he knew he was fiercer than a cat, faster than a cat and he could hunt better than a cat! He told himself that he would do something to make him look different and not like a cat.

He jumped into an oily pond and when he came out the oil left stripy marks all over his body.

He tried to lick himself clean but it didn't work. He found another pond and looked at his refection in the water. He liked what he saw.

He went back to the jungle and this time he let everyone know that he was a tiger with stripes....and not a cat...and that's how they tiger got it's stripes.
