The Voice of Death

A myth submitted to the site by Josh Knight

Rumania, Rumania

A long time ago there was a man who wanted to become very rich, and wanted to buy everything that he wanted. Then he got frightened, he thought "what would happen if I die? I wouldn't be able to enjoy everything if I left it behind." So he searched around the world for a place where nobody died. Then he found a place where nobody had even heard of the word death. The people here said that people did disappear though every now and then. They heard a voice calling them and they followed the voice. No one ever saw them again. He said 'If they are so foolish then let them walk off to find the voice, I will ignore the voice."

He packed up everything and moved to the immortal land, where they lived happily for a few years, until one evening, his wife heard a voice calling. The children blocked the exits, just before they closed the last door she shot off following the loud echo and was never seen again, so that was the last of her. Then one day when the man was having a shave in the barbers shop he shouted out 'No I won't go with you! Go away! Leave me alone". Then he ran out of the shop with the razor in his hand saying "I'll teach you a lesson" and ran for many hours. In the end the voice disappeared off the cliff and so he did too.

When the barber told the village what had happend they decided between them to all become mortals.
