The Lincoln Imp

A myth submitted to the site by Summer Bryan

Lincoln Cathedral, Lincoln

One day the Devil [Satan] sent the Imps out to play because the Devil [Satan] wanted some peace and quiet.

Then the wind blew so strong it blew the Imps all the way to Lincoln and they landed with a bump.

At first they were too terrified of the Minister to enter Lincoln Cathedral because they had never seen a human before.

Then one of them found the bravery too fly in Lincoln Cathedral.

After one of the Imps found the courage to fly in, they tried to stumble the Lord Bishop.

Then they knocked down the Dean and started to laugh, in a cheeky way.

Next they teased the Vergers and the Choir.

When they started to crack the windows the Angels told them to stop but they would not stop.

The Angels were wearing white and they had big feathery white wings. They were very polite.

Then because the Imps were smashing the windows and the Angels turned them both into stone.

The Lincoln Imp still stands today.
