After escaping from the underworld that was dark and cruel,Izanagi cleaned himself from all the contamination he had carried from the land of the deceased. Washing his left eye the manifested form of the sun(Amaterasu) was born . As he was washing his right eye, Tsukiyomi the manifested form of the moon was born. Susanoo the manifested form of the sea was born from washing his nose. These three deities are considered to be the most important gods and goddesses in Japanese mythology.


One of the central figures in Japanese religion and belief systems, Amaterasu is considered to be one of the most important deities in mythology. She is worshiped in all of Japan for her beauty and power.
