The Haunted Lake of Spirits

A myth submitted to the site by Jayden

Fairplay, Colorado

A boy named James ran away from home, because his parents left him. He came across a lake, he saw evil spirits hovering above the water. He was so scared he ran as fast as he could to his house, but he got lost on the way. He was going in circles till he came across the lake again. He had a plan,he wold stay the night on a rock near the lake.

He woke up at the sound of a young girl crying, she was as pale as snow. "What is wrong?" asked James, "I found this lake when I was with my daddy one day," replied the girl "When he could not find any more food, the animals had all gone, he wanted to kill me, but I jumped into to the lake before he could chop off my head, the spirits made me their own, and now I live in peace, but I still remember every bad thing he had done to me, and it scares me."
"Well, will I become on of their own?" asked James,
"You shall jump in the lake one day, until then, goodbye." said the girl disappearing into the fog.

The next morning, the sun was up, his plan was to find a way home. He was so hot, he jumped into the lake and swam to the bottom. He felt a cold bony hand on him, then everything went dark, he was in peace.
