Permares was the god of fire and heat. This is the tale, lost for ages, of the punishment that was given to Permares because of his anger and frustration.
It was a normal day on mount Olympus and Permares was angry as usual. The gods were voting on whether or not to put a layer of ice in the tundra. Permares, being the god of heat and fire, opposed this idea, because he would be powerless in those areas. However all the other gods loved the idea, and they made it so. Just to annoy Permares the gods named the layer permafrost.
Permares became infuriated so he put a curse on man to give man the thought of pollution. This would eventually cause the ice to melt. This would later be called global warming.
The gods became so angry that they punished Permares by placing him under the layer of permafrost until his curse took full effect. Since he was powerless in the tundra he could not melt through the permafrost. Zeus yelled out “your strength shall become your weakness." When the gods announced his punishment, all the gods felt joyful. For Permares was gone. They would not see him for some time. After the announcement they all feasted because they were finally free from Permares, thus making Olympus a happier place.
