The Invite

A myth submitted to the site by Abigail Olawuyi

Countryside, England

It was a lazy Saturday in June and Carla and Johnny were bored. They mooched around on the island and Johnny prodded the sand with his sword. High above flew a seagull, a dozy half-asleep kind of bird. In his beak he carried an invite, to fly further seemed a little absurd!

Carla gazed up in amazement, could that be a wish come true a bird with a special invite,"Johnny she squealed it's for you!''
"Yeah! Sure! I'm waiting for an invite. No one ever writes me a letter. Let me read it later. Ah! A rest - now that feels much better.''
"Oh, Johnny you are impossible, this could be a dream come true. A ticket for a glittering party; I need a dress and an outfit for you!''

Carla looked in her closet; no dress for a party in there. She gasped at the state of her nails, and what could she do with her hair! Now Johnny's attire was a problem; he never looked what you'd call smart. Looking at the state of poor Johnny, Carla wondered were she should start!

A wish can take a minute, and sometimes can take days. But in the blink of an eye they had wheels to delight and amaze. Dancing white horses were impatient, they were raring to take off and go. But Johnny had other ideas, as horses were bound to be slow! They arrived at their destination, looking like film stars glamorous and proud. Stepping out onto the red carpet, they waved to the cheering crowd.

Carla and Johnny had no idea what was about to happen inside. Was it a party?,premiere or concert, from the clues on the walls they had spied? After the buzz and excitement of meeting their favorite stars, a spaceship arrived in the car park with a special delivery from Mars! It had all of the usual features you would expect from a robot of sorts.
