Long, long ago when the Earth was new, in South Africa, all the animals were having a drink at the water hole.

One day, all these grey clouds stared coming over the water hole. All the animals ran away from the grey clouds but the zebras did see the clouds and carried on drinking the water. Suddenly thunder and lightening started coming out of the clouds. All at once all of the zebras got hit by lightening. All the zebras suddenly had black and white stripes.

Before they got hit they were just black with green eyes and that's how zebras got their stripes.
