Jack the Snowman

A myth submitted to the site by Olivia

Once upon a time there was a boy called Sam. Sam had built a snowman and he named it Jack. Sam would always play with Jack. One night when Sam’s mum called him in for bed something magical happened. Jack came alive.

Jack walked into the garage, and a freezer caught his eye. Jack climbed into the freezer and fell asleep. Early the next day Sam ran outside but couldn’t find Jack. “Where’s Jack?” said Sam. All at once Jack came out of the freezer and shock slapped Sam on the face! “You’re, you’re alive!” said Sam. Sam and Jack stared at each other for a while, then Jack asked, “Can I come into your room please?” and Sam said, “Sure but you have to keep quiet because my parents are asleep”

So they went into Sam’s room and they started to play tag and hide and seek. Afterwards Sam and Jack went into Sam’s parent’s room and took all their clothes and ran back into Sam’s room and dressed up in the clothes and pretended to be his parents. When they were finished they returned the clothes to Sam’s parent’s room. Then Jack had to go back outside. “Bye Sam,” said Jack “Bye Jack,” said Sam.

The next day Sam went outside and there was Jack waiting for him. “What do you want to play today!” asked Jack “I think we should have a snowball fight,” suggested Sam. So they had a snowball fight and every time somebody went past, Jack would stand still. That night when Sam’s mum called him in he didn’t go to sleep. He waited until his mum and dad had fallen asleep and then he put on his robe and snuck down the stairs and opened the door to the frosty night. “What are you doing out here at this time of night?” said Jack. “I wanted to come out with you,” said Sam. “Do you want to go to the snowman party?” asked Jack. “Sure” said Sam. So Jack took his hand and they flew to the party.

At the party there were children and snowmen and woman were there from all over the world. Sam and a snowwoman went on the dance floor and danced the night away. Afterwards, Jack took Sam home and Sam sank into his bed and fell asleep.

The next day the sun was shining and the snow was melting. Sam went outside and there was Jack melting in front of his eyes. “Where are you going?” cried Sam, “I’m melting,” said Jack. “Will you come back?” begged Sam. “Yes” said Jack. “Bye” said Sam. “Bye” said Jack.

There's 'snow' way that friendship could have lasted! Will Sam rebuild Jack next year, or will another character emerge?
