Shang, the wizard and an evil forest witch!

A myth submitted to the site by Sarah Walker

Many moons ago in a village called `Forest Pathway` was a sign that said, `Beware of ... the forest, of all that dwells here..` If you dare enter, you will not return! People knew a wicked witch dwelt not far from that sign, and kept well away.

In the village lived a mighty wizard. People were afraid for many years until a brave man called Shang finally went to ask the great wizard for help. Shang expected to be sent away as you would think wizards would have much more important things to do! But he said yes, and whispered one word into Shangs ear.

That night the Shang set off to kill a witch. When he
got there, she was standing staring at him. She coughed and said
"What have you came for small man?" She went on to say. "Have a drink of this, and offered him a glass of
potion.

Shang drank the potion and he fell to sleep on the floor. Hours later he woke up, bound in chains..At that moment he saw the witch and said the word that the wizard had whispered...."Lightning!"

Immediately a lightning bolt fell from the sky and killed her. The forest became peaceful once again. Shang struggled free and went back to the village falling into a asleep that lasted for seven long days.

The moment the sun was in the sky and that second the wizard died; but how? Shang knew he had put all of his magic and soul into the spell word to save the village and this had killed him. The village mourned his death for 100 days.....
